It Was Very Merry

Andrew here.

We just celebrated Jesus' birthday! On Christmas Day we had cupcakes with candles in them. We sang "Happy To You Jesus" then we blowed out the candles.

Before that Daddy read us a story about baby Jesus being born. Then we got to open some presents.

And play with them.

Daddy helped us play too. He didn't have to go to work.

The night before Christmas we went to church. Bubba and I played in the nursery for a few minutes. Then Mama came and got us. We went out in the church. It was dark. Somebody turned the lights off. But there were lots and lots of candles. Mama got a candle. She didn't let me hold it. And she didn't let Bubba hold it. But after everyone was done singing a Christmas song, she let me and Bubba help her blow it out.

And for a few days before that we were at Granma and Granpa's house. We drove right by where the cows are. I saw "free" cows. Bubba saw five cows. They said, "MOOO!!!" Rachel and Anna and Aunt Cindy and Uncle David came there too. And Aunt Hazel came for few minutes. And Aunt "Roof" came too. And then Uncle Jeff and Aunt "WeeAnn" came and ate lunch with us.

Oh, and Uncle Nevin and Aunt Dee came and ate pie with us.

Bubba learned how to play Hide and Seek when they were there. And he was being silly with Uncle David.

And we went to see some more trains. They were little trains. They said, "Choooo-chooo!!" And there were little cars and trucks. And a fire truck that put out a fire. And when it was night time it would get dark and the stars would blink. And there was a parade and a circus.

Hope your Christmas was very merry too!

It Schnowed!!

Yeserday schnow falled down. Daddy taked us outside so we could walk in it. Andrew didn't want to stay out vewy wong. But Daddy taked me for a wong walk. And he got me some chocolate milk!!

Tuesdays

Yeserday* Mama tooked me to hear some boys and girls sing some Chwistmas songs. And there was a twumpet and some other instwuments. We went to church to hear them. First, they played the instwuments. Then they walked away and other boys and girls came. They singed songs. Then they moved their hands and said, "I'm hungwy, I'm vewy, vewy hungwy!" Then they singed more songs. And we cwapped evewy time when they stopped singing. Mama asked me if I wiked the music. I said YES!! She said when I get bigger maybe I can pway an instwument and sing just wike those boys and girls did. I said YES!! Andrew didn't come to hear the Chwistmas music. He stayed at home and pwayed with Daddy.

And yeserday after we ate bweakfast we dwove in our car to the twain station. When our twain came we got on it and sitted in seats. The twain dwove fast but not as fast as the other twain. I wooked out the window. When it was time to get off the twain we were in the city. We walked a wittle bit then went into a vewy, vewy big building. Other people were there and they were sitting on the fwoor. So we sitted on the fwoor too. And we wooked at the wall. We saw lots of different pictures and heared Chwistmas music. We even had funny eye gwasses to wear.

Mine kept falling off. When that was all done we walked outside again and went to anoder big building. There were wots of people sitting on the fwoor in there too. But we didn't sit this time, we standed. We saw lots of wights and heard more Chwistmas music. When it was all done, we got to climb on the big eagle.

Then we went outside and walked again. When we went in anoder building we sawed wots of wittle twains. Sometimes they moved and sometimes they stopped. And there were buttons to push and that made things move.

Then Mama and Daddy said it was time to eat wunch. I eated a cheese burger and Andrew eated a cheese samwich. We got to go wook at the wittle twains again. I wooked at the twains and Andrew went up and down, up and down, up and down the escawator. Then we waited for our big twain to come. We got on it and came home.

It was wots and wots of fun!!!

*Editor Mama's comment - Yesterday is any time in the past, no matter how long ago it was. We went to the Lehigh Christian Academy Christmas concert on Tuesday, December 15. The train ride to see the Christmas lights was a couple of weeks ago.

Quotable Conversations

At lunch the other day...

Jonathan - "Mama, that cheese is white."

Mama - "Yep. It's called muenster cheese."

J - "Does it come from monsters, Mama?"

M - "No. It's not monster cheese, it's muenster."

J - "Oh."

Andrew - "Mama, may-ya cookie monster cheese?"

At lunch, almost any day...

J (picking up his cup) - "I have chocolate milk!"

A - "I have chocolate milk!"

J - "No, Andrew, you have white milk."

A (getting upset) - "Want wipe milk!!"

J - "Andrew, you have wipe milk. I have chocolate milk."

A (banging cup down on table) - "Want wipe milk!!!"

At supper last night...
J (picking little red things out of his salad) - "Mama, what's this?"

M - "That's a dried cranberry. It's called a craisin."

J - "A raisin?"

M - "No, a craisin."

A (picking up one of his craisins) - "Wook, Mama, bury." [translation - "Look, Mama, a berry."]

M - "That's a craisin, Andrew."

A - "Bury, Mama."

a few minutes later...
A - "Mama, may-ya more craze?" [translation - "Mama, may I have more craisins?"]

Almost every day...when playing with cars and trucks...

J (drives his Matchbox car over to Andrew) - "Hi. I'm a car."

A (driving a Jeep) - "Hi. I'm car."

J - "No, you're a Jeep."

A - "You're Jeep."

J - "No. You're a Jeep. I'm a car."

A - "I'm car."

J - "No, Andrew. I'm a car. You're a Jeep."

A - "You're a Jeep."

Andrew Says

Jonathan - "I'm a farmer!"

Andrew - "I'm farmer!"

J - "No, Andrew. You're mimic." [He's heard us use that word...but doesn't have a clue what it means]

A - "I'm mimic!"

At breakfast...
Andrew - "Mama, may-ya bury muffin please?"
[translation...Mama, may I have a berry muffin please?]

Mama - "That's a pumpkin muffin. Here you go."

A - "Pump-kin muffin!" (shoves entire piece into mouth at one time)
"See num-mer ear, Mama"

M - "Here, Andrew. You may look at this box."

A - "Num-mer ear!"
[One day the other week, Daddy noticed that Count Chocula's ear looks like it has a 6 in it.]

Standing in kitchen, behind the gate he's just closed...
Andrew - "BUBBA!!!!"

Jonathan - "What, Andrew?"

A - "Bubba open please!"

J - "I can't open it, Andrew. Ask Mama."

A - "Mama, open please!!"

Looking at books while Mama gets supper ready...
Jonathan - "Andrew, do you want to see this book?"

Andrew - "Yes. Wead book, Bubba."

J - "I can't read it, Andrew."

Mama - "Tell him about the pictures, Buddy."

J - "Look at this picture, Andrew. That's a motorcycle. Can you say motorcycle?"

A - "Moda-cycle"

J - "That's right, Andrew." (turns the page and points to another picture...) "That's a dibben. Can you say dibben, Andrew?" [When Jonathan doesn't know the name of something, he'll just make up one]

A - "Dibben!" (points to another picture) "What that, Bubba?"

J - "That's a tandem by-cigle. Can you say tandem by-cygle?"

A - "Tandem by-cygle"

Mama - "Time for supper!"

A - "Eat food!!"

NO!!!

The other week Daddy said it was time to get haircuts.

Time to get a haircut!!! Yippppeeee!! "'M'on Bubba! Shoes on! Haircut!!"

A boy has to keep his hair looking good.

So into the car...out of the car...across the street...in the door...on Mama's lap..."Maya read book, Mama"...

Then everything started falling apart...Mama got in the chair and got her hair cut.

I did NOT like that. Come back here, Mama!

Then Bubba got in the chair and they went "bzzzzzz" on his hair.

Ok, so that was kind of neat.

Then Daddy got in the chair and they went "bzzzzzz" on his hair too.

I did NOT like that so much either. Come back here, Daddy! "Up, Daddy!!" I want you to hold me, Daddy! When we come in here and Mama holds me, she takes me to that chair and leaves me there and the lady tries to go snip, snip to my hair and tells me to look at my belly and my shoes and.....

How many times do I have to tell you that I do NOT like haircuts? Won't someone listen to me? This is not the face of someone who needs a haircut, is it?

Four went in the door.

Only three came out with shorter hair.

"Maya wollipop, Mama?"

We've Been Busy!

Hey everybody! It's me, Andrew.

Mama said that today is November...and if we're gonna ever tell you what we did in October, we better do it now.

Ok, Mama!!

We went to see scarecrows and pumpkins at the pumpkin farm and we went to the playground and we went to Granma and Granma's house and we went to a funeral and we went to MOPS and MOPS "ac-tig-a-we" and we went to the library and read books and we played with toys and we pulled out pumpkin seeds and we went "twick or tweet" and we ate candy and Bubba shared some of his "m's" with me.

How's that, Mama? Did I miss anything?

Oh, you want some details? Ok.

And pictures? Ok. We can do that too!

Last year Mama and Daddy took us to see scarecrows and pumpkins. We had so much fun last year that we decided to go again this year.

At the pumpkin farm we saw lots of pumpkins.

They had lots of fun things to play with too. We got on tractors

and played in some corn (Mama told us not to eat that corn) and banged on pots and pans and ran through a corn tunnel and walked through a corn maze and played with horses on sticks

and and played with a parachute.

One Sunday, when we woke up, Mama told us we were gonna go to Granma and Granma's house. (Ok, so Mama really said that we were going to Grandpa and Grandma's house...but that's a hard one for me to say!) But first we went to church. Then we ate lunch. Then we put things in the car. Then we drove for a long time. I took a nap. And Bubba took a nap. I don't think Mama took a nap. When we got close to Granma and Granma's house we saw some cows. They were chewing on some hay and didn't say "moo" to us.

At Granma and Granma's house we played with toys

and read books

and played the piano

and the organ and got in the swings and went to see some fishes and touch a stingray (Mama touched it...I just got my hands wet) and watch the birds with Granma...I mean Grandpa.

The funeral was for Pastor Bob. We went to church and there were lots and lots and lots of people there. Mama said we could stay in the nursery and play. Mama and Daddy came back later and got us. Then we went downstairs and ate "sert." There was pie and cookies and cake and chocolate things to eat. And apple juice to drink.

When we went to Granma and Granma's house, Mama took us to see some more pumpkins. Aunt "Roof" came with us too. This time we got to pick out a pumpkin to take home. A few nights ago Daddy got out a sharp knife and cut holes in the pumpkin. He let me and Bubba stick our hands inside and pull out all the seeds.

Some of the holes that Daddy cut made the pumpkin look like he had a face. Mama put a candle inside the pumpkin and burned it.

Last night, after we ate supper, Mama said that we could go "twick or tweet." Bubba put on his policeman coat and hat. Mama had twick or tweet pants for me...I looked just like a little cow! MOO!!!

We walked to some other houses and said, "twick or tweet" and the people would put candy in our bags. It started raining so then we went home.

Mama let us eat some candy when we got home!!!

What did you do in October?
