Over the River and Through the Woods...

We went to Grandma and Grandpa "Hebrew's" house...and we forgot to tell you about it!

A few weeks ago, after we ate breakfast, we got in the car and drived for a long time. Mama turned on the stories so we could listen to them in the car. When we got out of the car, we were at the place where Grandpa "Hebrew" works. That's what Mama said. I wasn't so sure cause we walked in the door and I didn't see him. But Mama talked to a man and then he walked away and then Grandpa came out. He taked us through another door and showed us a big machine that he uses. He said that it washes pans and buckets. He turned it on...not much to see, but it sure maked lots of noise!! Then a nice lady gived me a piece of cheese to eat. And Andrew gots one too.

Then we got back in the car and drived just for a little bit. We saw big, big, big shiny red barns and the other things beside them. Mama said those were called silos. This time when we got out we were at Grandma's house. And our cousins were there too.

We played with our cousins...

We played cars and trucks. I got to help Grandpa feed the birds. We went to visit Aunt "Roof". We went in the swings.

And we went to a museum.

I got to eat a piece of candy and push Andrew's stroller. Then we went inside the building and there were lots and lots of people and lots and lots of fun things to do. I got to make cars and trucks

and play with balls and stick things

and sit in a tractor

and climb up steps and go in a store and put other things in the machine.

It was fun!!!

Andrew had fun too. I think he liked when Grandpa read books. And the swings.

Quotable Conversations

Yesterday...

Jonathan - "Growl in the hospital."

Mama (completely baffled) - "What, Buddy?"

J - "Growl is in the hospital."

M - "What? Say that again."

J - "Growl is in the hospital."

M (after having him repeat this cryptic statement numerous times, the light bulb finally goes on) - "Oh! Do you mean Ralph?"

J - "Yes. Growl is in hospital."

[Oh, the things they hear!! When Jody recently took Jonathan for a walk, they stopped to talk to a neighbor...and found out that her husband had been in the hospital. Good memory, son! We'll work on pronunciation!]

and last night...
J (finishes his bedtime snack then brings his plate over to Daddy) - "May I have some milk and crannies?"

Daddy (with much puzzlement) - "You want what, Buddy?"

J - "Milk and crannies"

D - "Some what?"

J - "Milk and crannies"

D - "You'll have to wait till Mama comes back from putting Andrew to bed. Maybe she knows what you're talking about."

a few minutes later Mama arrives on the scene...
J - "May I have some milk and crannies?"

M - "Sure Bud! Here you go!" (hold out her hand) "Here are some nooks and crannies for you!"

J (takes something imaginary from Mama's hand and pretends to eat it) - "Thanks, Mama!"

Quotable Conversations

On a beautiful, sunny day recently...while walking home from the playground...

Jonathan (admiring a small portion of God's handwork) - "I walk in the grass, Mama."

Mama - "Ok Buddy"

J (bending down for closer inspection) - "Cows eat grass."

M - "Yep, they do."

J - "I eat grass."

(and into his mouth it went!!)

M (wondering how many dogs have visited that particular spot) - "You're not a cow!!"

Andrew - "Ahh-da!!!!"

It's Empty, Mama

Mama - "What's in this egg, Jonathan?"

Jonathan - "Brown. Donkey."

M - "Yep. Jesus rode into town on a donkey. What did the people say?"

J (loudly, with raised eyebrows) - "Hosanna!! Hosanna!!"

J (after opening egg #2) - "Cracker!"

M - "Yes. Who did Jesus eat with?"

J - "Disciples."

egg #3...
J - "Pennies!"

M - "Those are coins. Some people wanted to know where Jesus was. Who did they give coins to so he would tell them where Jesus was?"

J (after a few wrong answers and an "I don't know") - "Judas"

egg #4...
J - "What's that, Mama?"

M - "A nail. After they found Jesus they put nails in his hands and feet. Then where did they put him?"

J - "On a cross."

M - "And what happened to him?"

J - "Died"

egg #5...
M - "Yep. What did they do with the white cloth?"

J - "I don't know."

M - "They wrapped it around Jesus' body. Where did they put him?"

J - "Tomb"

egg #6...
J - "A rock!"

M - "Where did they put the big, huge rock?"

J - "I don't know"

M - "In front of Jesus' tomb...so no one could...."

J - "No one could get in, no one get out."

egg #7...
J - "It's empty, Mama!"

M - "Just like Jesus' tomb! Jesus is...."

J - "Alive!!!"

He is risen indeed!! Happy Easter!!!!!
